 | Letter Carriers Annual Food Drive March 10, 2008 Many volunteers sort food at the 2007 Food Drive |
The NALC # 495, US Postal Service in conjunction with United Way of Rutland County will be collecting and distributing food during the 16th Annual Food Drive on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Last year, over 25,000 pounds of food was collected and distributed to the food shelves at BROC, Rutland Community Cupboard, Salvation Army, Fair Haven Concerned and Poultney Food Shelf. Please help us this year by putting your non-perishable donation in a bag by your mailbox. Summer months create the most hardship for food shelves. Demand for food from area families is the greatest at this time of year as no school lunches/breakfasts are provided and families must find alternate sources of nutrition. Non-perishablr items such as: Peanut butter, jelly, pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, fruit, tuna fish, canned meats, baby food, soup, puddings, juices...Also...cleaning supplies, paper goods, diapers.
No thank you to outdated products, home-canned goods, perishable items like potatoes, baked goods, onion, bread. ............................................................................................................................................ |
